(Fairfax, VA) Harrity & Harrity, LLP announced today that its Software Product Division has successfully completed a SOC 2 Type II audit, receiving an absolute attestation under the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Trust Services Criteria for Security.
SOC 2 Type II attestation provides independent assurance that an organization’s security controls are not only appropriately designed, but operated effectively over an extended duration of time. Harrity’s audit covered a three-month period in which the tools were routinely utilized and observed, confirming that the controls functioned as intended without lapse or concern.
Harrity’s software portfolio includes its proprietary Patent Hub platform, which powers tools such as Patent Pioneer® and Patent Navigator®. These tools are used daily by patent attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications, analyze portfolios, and extract insights from highly confidential client data.
Patent Pioneer® is an AI-assisted drafting and prosecution tool embedded directly into Microsoft Word and Visio. It helps attorneys transform invention disclosures, transcripts, and figures into structured patent application sections while keeping attorneys fully in control of strategy, language, and legal judgment.
Patent Navigator® complements this workflow by providing secure portfolio-level intelligence. It enables attorneys to analyze private patent portfolios, identify relevant assets, and surface competitive or strategic insights, all within a system designed to maintain strict client and matter segregation.
Because these tools interact with sensitive invention data, draft claims, confidential attorney input, and client portfolios, security is foundational to their design. SOC 2 Type II attestation independently validates that Harrity’s software systems supporting these tools operate with consistent, tested controls to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability over time—not just at a single point.
“This milestone reflects the operational maturity behind our automation tools,” said Shawn Lillemo, Director of Software Development. “As we continue to expand AI-assisted drafting and analytics, our clients can be confident that security, reliability, and responsible design remain core to how we build and deploy technology.”
The SOC 2 Type II attestation underscores Harrity’s commitment to enterprise-grade security, disciplined software development, and trusted automation in patent practice.
