BIOGRAPHY

Robert “Bob” O’Loughlin is a patent attorney with more than 12 years of experience specializing in patent preparation and prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has extensive experience in conducting all phases of prosecution for U.S. and foreign patent applications related to wireless communication devices, mobile devices, computer software, image editing software, video processing software, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, networking devices, business methods, and medical devices.  Bob has particular expertise regarding software patentability in light of Alice, and has presented to various audiences regarding software patent prosecution practice.

Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, Bob worked for over a decade in private practice representing clients with a focus on collaborating with clients to navigate intellectual property opportunities and risks in light of his clients’ objectives regarding innovation, commercialization and competition. His experience includes performing freedom-to-operate investigations, risk assessment, design-around counseling, due diligence for mergers & acquisitions, preparing opinions of counsel, patent litigation strategy development, and negotiating and drafting intellectual property transactional agreements. He applies his extensive knowledge of the business and legal impacts of intellectual property to every patent application he drafts.
