Gavin Giraud is a knowledgeable patent attorney with a deep understanding of how preparing and prosecuting patent applications works to add value for companies in a wide variety of industries. Most particularly, Gavin has worked on portfolios involving turbine engines, semiconductors, photo processing, consumer devices, well services, medical devices, and artificial intelligence hardware and algorithms.
With experience in many states, Gavin is comfortable all over the country. He grew up and went to school in the West, practiced law at firms in Houston (Fletcher Yoder, The Matthews Firm, and Chamberlain Hrdlicka), and advised engineers and business professionals at IBM on the east coast just prior to joining Harrity & Harrity. While primarily handling patent preparation and prosecution, he has extensive experience in infringement analysis and licensing of patents as well.
For his formal education, Gavin first studied at Brigham Young University, graduating with a double major in physics and Japanese before attending law school at the University of Idaho. BYU provided research opportunities in laser harmonics, with Gavin contributing to two publications while an undergrad.
Gavin lives upstate in New York with his wife and family. When not coaching or attending sporting events with his three kids, Gavin rock climbs and tries to sign up for a few obstacle course races every year.
