James “Jim” Olson is a Senior Patent Agent at Harrity & Harrity, LLP. He focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting patent applications for leading technology companies.
Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, Jim served as a Patent Agent at IBM in Rochester, Minnesota, where he acquired extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications, conducting examiner interviews, overcoming rejections, and securing favorable outcomes before the PTAB. During his tenure, he oversaw end-to-end invention pipelines and managed IBM’s patent portfolio in key technology segments, including Human-Computer Interface (HCI), multimedia, storage, and hybrid cloud. Additionally, Jim led invention mining sessions, conducted patent landscape analyses, and mentored incoming patent professionals.
Outside of his practice, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, golfing, hiking, camping, and going on runs with his dog, Loki.
