LaTia Kimmel Brand is a Patent Data Analyst with more than a decade of experience at the intersection of intellectual property, legal operations, and data analytics. She specializes in transforming complex patent and prosecution data into actionable insights that help organizations make informed business and portfolio decisions.

At Harrity & Harrity, LaTia leads custom analytics initiatives for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to emerging innovators. Her work includes competitive intelligence, portfolio benchmarking, patent prosecution analytics, technology landscape analyses, and the research behind Harrity’s industry-recognized Patent 300® rankings. She collaborates closely with attorneys, corporate IP leaders, and business stakeholders to develop data-driven strategies that improve decision-making and uncover opportunities within large patent portfolios.

Before joining Harrity, LaTia held progressive roles in patent prosecution, docket management, and IP operations, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the patent lifecycle from both legal and operational perspectives. This combination of legal experience, scientific training, and analytical expertise enables her to bridge the gap between complex technical data and practical business strategy.

LaTia earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Human Physiology from Mississippi State University. Her interdisciplinary background allows her to approach intellectual property through both scientific and legal lenses, making her particularly effective at translating complex information into meaningful insights.

Her research on diversity within the patent profession has been featured by the American Bar Association and cited by leading intellectual property publications, including Forbes and IPWatchdog.

Outside of work, LaTia lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, with her husband and their dog. She is an active member of the Mid-City Rotary Club, where she enjoys contributing to and supporting her local community. She is passionate about health equity and food justice and believes that meaningful innovation extends beyond technology to improving people’s lives. An avid traveler, LaTia enjoys exploring new places, learning from different cultures, and gaining new perspectives.
