We’re looking for a sharp, results-driven mid-to-senior-level developer to lead the transformation of our AI-powered patent drafting platform into a scalable, multi-tenant SaaS solution. This is a mission-critical role for our fast-growing patent law firm as we expand licensing of our tool to large enterprise customers.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives on complex technical challenges, enjoys moving fast, and has a competitive drive to deliver. You’ll own the architecture, design, and execution of this transition—and you’ll be expected to lead from the front.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Architect and implement a multi-tenant SaaS platform with secure data segregation and resource sharing
• Design and implement permission models, tenancy boundaries, and tenant-aware services
• Collaborate with our internal and offshore teams to drive implementation
• Assign/refine user stories and manage key aspects of development
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks as we scale
• Lead architectural decisions and mentor future hires
• Stay ahead of the curve by leveraging AI tools to increase dev speed 

What You Bring:

• Proven experience transitioning from single-tenant to multi-tenant SaaS environments (MUST-HAVE)
• 3+ years in Kubernetes + microservices development
• 3+ years with Node.js and at least 3 of the following:
  MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, Postgres, Minio
• 2+ years designing secure multi-tenant architectures
• 1+ years in a tech lead or architectural role in a fast-paced or startup-like environment
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and CI/CD best practices
• Bonus: DevOps chops and experience scaling AI-powered SaaS tools

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Innovation Specialist in Patent Technology to join our growing team. This unique role sits at the exciting intersection of patent law, artificial intelligence, and software development. Reporting directly to the software development team leads, you will play a crucial role in shaping the AI-powered tools used by our patent professionals and clients. You’ll play a hands-on role in prompt engineering, tool testing, documentation, support, and customer onboarding, and you will be a key player in the transformation of patent practice through AI—enabling better client outcomes and defining best practices in a rapidly evolving field.

Responsibilities:

• AI Prompt Engineering:Develop, test, and refine prompts for generative AI models (such as LLMs provided by OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic, etc.) tailored to specific patent-related tasks (e.g., drafting assistance, analysis, search augmentation).
• Software Tool Support:Provide onboarding and ongoing support to internal users and external clients using our proprietary software tools, providing best practices and troubleshooting.
• Tool Development & Launch Support:Contribute directly to building a library of effective AI tools and support the successful launch and adoption of our suite of software products for patent professionals.
• Testing & Validation:Participate in testing new features and AI outputs from the perspective of a patent professional.
• Documentation:Create, update, and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for our software tools and AI functionalities.
• Feedback Management:Gather, analyze, and synthesize feedback from users to inform iterative improvements and future development priorities.
• User Story Development:Collaborate closely with patent attorneys/agents and the software development team to define clear user stories and requirements for new software features and AI tools.

Qualifications (Required):

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the patent field as a registered patent agent/attorney or as a current or former U.S. Patent Examiner.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO or prior experience as a U.S. Patent Examiner.
• Demonstrable experience and foundational knowledge of AI prompting techniques. Must understand key concepts and differences between various AI models.
• Based in the United States and authorized to work in the US.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies.

Qualifications (Preferred/Bonus):

• Experience drafting Patent Applications (20+) and Office Action Responses (50+).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Professional work experience involving AI/prompt engineering.
• Ability to showcase personal projects involving AI or prompt engineering.
• Experience with Python (professional or personal projects).
