Gabriella (Abby) Alfano is a patent attorney with experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications for clients, both in the United States and in foreign countries. Her areas of focus include a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical fields, including medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, consumer products and appliances, semiconductor inspection, manufacturing processes, and machine learning.
Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, Abby practiced as a patent attorney at a large general practice firm in Buffalo, New York, where she focused her practice on patent preparation, prosecution, and patent portfolio management. While in law school, Abby worked as a law clerk at a boutique intellectual property law firm and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.
Abby earned her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University at Buffalo. While attending school, Abby worked with a local startup company specializing in the development of medical equipment. She also performed research in a nanotechnology wet laboratory, focusing on cancer therapy and cancer biomarkers. Currently, Abby sits on the board of the University at Buffalo Engineering and Applied Sciences Alumni Association.
During law school, Abby was a property law teaching fellow, served as the vice president of the Intellectual Property Law Society, and was a member of the Buffalo Law Review and Buffalo Human Rights Law Review.
Abby currently resides in Buffalo, New York, and enjoys traveling and creating handmade jewelry pieces.
