Malika Ash Shakur is a native Washingtonian patent professional with 21 years of experience in domestic patent prosecution in both the Chemical and Electrical/Mechanical fields. Prior to joining Harrity, Malika was the Director of Operations at a small, boutique IP firm for the past 6 years. Malika has experience with preparing and filing responses to Office Actions, responses to Formalities Notices, Notices of Appeal, as well as paying Issue Fees and Maintenance Fees. Malika has also prepared and filed hundreds of patent applications of all types over her 21-year career and is thrilled to be a part of the Harrity New Apps team where she can focus on her favorite aspect of patent prosecution.
When not working, Malika loves to travel internationally with her daughter. She can also be found trying new restaurants with her friends, reading books or listening to audiobooks, hiking in Rock Creek Park, or exploring various neighborhoods in DC. Malika also enjoys watching Duke Blue Devils men’s and women’s basketball teams whenever she can.
