Nicholas Stango is a patent attorney with experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications for clients in the United States and abroad. His work spans a wide range of technologies, including machine learning, helicopter and gas turbine engine systems, elevators and escalators, HVAC systems, transportation refrigeration units, automotive systems, fire suppression systems, kitchen appliances, computer software, video technologies, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, Nicholas practiced as a patent attorney at Cantor Colburn LLP in Connecticut. He also gained experience in aviation finance at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. His practice has focused on patent preparation and prosecution, as well as patentability, non-infringement, and validity analyses.
Nicholas earned his aerospace engineering degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of the Division I varsity men’s gymnastics team. He was a three-year letter winner, an All-America Scholar-Athlete, a Big Ten Conference Scholar-Athlete, a George Huff Award recipient, and a member of the 2009 Big Ten Championship Team.
Before entering the legal field, Nicholas worked as an aerospace engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, contributing to the development and support of multiple aircraft platforms, including the S-92, S-76, CH-148, UH-60 Black Hawk, and SB-1 Defiant. His engineering background allows him to bring practical, real-world insight to his patent practice.
Nicholas earned his law degree from the Quinnipiac University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude with a concentration in Intellectual Property with Honors. While in law school, he received the Outstanding Legal Scholarship Award and Distinguished Academic Awards in Legal Skills, Advanced Patents, Sports Law, and Business Planning. He passed the Connecticut State Bar and the USPTO Registration Examination in 2015.
Nicholas currently resides in Cheshire, Connecticut with his wife and children. He enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and watching sports.
