BIOGRAPHY

Stephanie Whelpley is a patent attorney specializing in the electrical arts. She brings nearly two decades of United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) experience to Harrity & Harrity. 

Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, Stephanie spent more than ten years as a patent attorney with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) at the USPTO. In her role, she worked closely with Administrative Patent Judges on Ex Parte Appeals in the electrical arts and business methods, and also supported Administrative Patent Judges in post-grant proceedings addressing patent validity. Her experience provides her with a comprehensive understanding of patent prosecution, appellate practice, and post-grant proceedings from an insider’s perspective. Stephanie began her career as a patent examiner in the areas of computer networks and multiplexing. While working full-time as a patent examiner, she earned her law degree with a concentration in intellectual property.

Stephanie was a founding member of the USPTO chapter of the ChIPs Network, reflecting her commitment to professional leadership and advancing diversity within the intellectual property community.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys running, be it after her young sons, shuttling them to their next activities, or training for her next road race.
