Timothy Hirzel is a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registered patent attorney with a background in physics. He concentrates his practice on intellectual property law with a focus on patent preparation, prosecution, counseling, and opinion work in a wide array of electrical and electromechanical technologies.
Tim works with multinational corporations and small businesses to prosecute hundreds of patent applications through issuance. He has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to wireless communication systems, computer networking, data processing systems, electronic payment systems, graphical user interfaces, mobile phones, antennas, digital cameras, optical systems, near field communication (NFC), IC chips, LCD panels, thin film transistors (TFTs), semiconductors, touch screens, head mounted displays, augmented reality, batteries, fuel cells, digital microscopy, electronic gaming hardware and software, optical disks, and 3D technology.
Tim also advises clients on numerous patent issues including portfolio management, infringement, non-infringement, and invalidity.
Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, Tim was a patent attorney at K&L Gates, LLP specializing in patent prosecution. While in law school, he was an Associate Editor for the Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property, a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society, and a law clerk at Bell, Boyd, & Lloyd LLC.
